Í þessari kynningu mun Melanie kynna sína einstöku skapandi hugmyndafræði og nálgun við tónsmíðar og hönnun hljóðmynda fyrir lifandi flutning. Með því að byggja á reynslu sinni sem hljóðlistamaður, tónskáld og hljóðhönnuður mun Melanie deila innsýn í vinnuferli sitt og hvernig hún nær fram flæði milli hljóðs og tónlistar. Hún verður með dæmisögur úr nýlegum verkefnum, allt frá hljóðdrifnum stúdíoverkum til stórra, fjölmiðlaðrar framleiðslna.
Melanie Wilson er búsett í Bretlandi, hún er þverfaglegt tónskáld, hljóð hönnuður og gjörningahöfundur. Verk hennar byggja á samræðum hljóðs, tilraunakenndra tónsmíðar, tungumála, tækni og lifandi flutnings. Nýleg verk Melanie: ‘Cow | Deer’ – lifandi hljóð/foley flutningur; ‘Oracle Song’ – hljóðverk fyrir raddir dýra, manneskjunnar og gervigreindar; ‘Dreaming Species’ – netflutningur á tvítóna/margtóna hljóðmynd: ‘Glass Human’ – Kammerópera flutt í Glyndebourn með Samantha Fernando og ‘Current Rising’ – Ofur veruleika ópera fyrir ROH.
Melanie er í samstarfi með listafólk og fyrirtækjum í Bretlandi og á alþjóðlegum vettvangi, þar með talið sem hljóð og tónskáld í samstarfi við leikstjórann Katie Mitchell. Meðal uppsetninga; ‘Hús Bernhörðu Alba‘ Deutsches Schauspielhaus í Hamborg og ‚ Little scratch‘ – New Diorama and Hamstead Theatre. Hún var formaður Association for Sound Design & Production. 2020-2023.

Creating sound worlds for performance: where sound design, composition and systems meet.
In this presentation, Melanie will introduce her unique creative philosophy and approach to scoring and designing soundtracks for live performance. Drawing on her disciplines as sound artist, composer and sound designer, Melanie will share insights from her process and how she achieves fluidity in the relationship between sound and music. She’ll share case studies from recent projects, ranging from intimate sound lead studio pieces to large scale multi-media productions.
Melanie Wilson is a U.K. based inter-disciplinary composer, sound designer and performance maker. Her work is founded on the dialogue between sound, experimental forms of composition, language, technology and live performance. Her recent work includes ‘Cow | Deer’, a live foley performance; ‘Oracle Song’, a sound work for animal, human and AI voices; ‘Dreaming Species’, an online binaural installation; ‘glass human’, a chamber opera for Glyndebourne with Samantha Fernando and ‘Current, Rising’, a hyper-reality opera for ROH.
Melanie collaborates with artists and companies in the U.K and internationally, including long term sound and composer collaboration on the work of director Katie Mitchell, most recently ‘Bernarda Alba’s Haus’, Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Hamburg and ‘little scratch’, New Diorama and Hampstead Theatre. She was the Chair of the Association for Sound Design & Production 2020 – 23.
